Financial Wellness Counseling Program
An 8-Session Journey to Financial Health
Unlike traditional financial advice that focuses solely on numbers, this program recognizes that our financial behaviors are deeply connected to our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences.
Our Core Philosophy
Mind-Money Connection
Your thoughts about money create feelings, which drive behaviors, which produce results. By understanding this cycle, you gain control over your financial life.
Compassion Over Shame
Financial struggles are not character flaws. This program creates a shame-free space to explore your relationship with money.
Integration, Not Isolation
Money touches every area of life: relationships, health, career, and self-worth. We address finances within this broader context.
What Makes This Program Different
❌ Traditional Approach
Focuses solely on numbers, budgets, and spreadsheets while ignoring why you overspend, avoid your accounts, or sabotage your savings in the first place.
✓ Our Approach
Addresses the root causes of financial stress your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences—to create lasting change.
✓ The Result
A therapeutic program integrating mental health with financial wellbeing, not financial planning or investment advice, but genuine transformation.
The Four Money Scripts
Research shows that most financial behaviors stem from unconscious beliefs, money scripts that we inherit from our families and life experiences. Understanding your dominant script is the first step to change.
Money Avoidance
"Money is bad or undeserved"
Belief that money is evil, that rich people are greedy, or that you don't deserve financial abundance.
Money Worship
"More money solves everything"
Belief that more money will bring happiness, solve all problems, and that you can never have enough.
Money Status
"Self-worth equals net worth"
Belief that success is measured by possessions, and that your value as a person depends on your financial status.
Money Vigilance
"Frugality and financial discretion"
Belief in saving, discretion about finances, and alertness can be healthy or lead to anxiety and hoarding.

About Your Counselor
Rory E. Carothers Sr., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor | 20-Year Army Veteran
With over two decades of military service and specialized training in trauma, PTSD, and relationship counseling, I've seen firsthand how money stress compounds mental health challenges—and how mental health symptoms sabotage financial stability.
The Financial Wellness Counseling Program was created because traditional financial advice fails to address why we do what we do with money. Your brain, your emotions, your family history—they all play a role. This program gives you the tools to understand and change those patterns.
