🔄 CLINICAL SUPPLEMENT FOR RECOVERY

MHDF Momentum

365-Day Structured Recovery Accountability Program

Daily mental health exercises, physical actions, and guided reflection for individuals in active addiction recovery. A clinical supplement designed to extend therapeutic reach between sessions.

The Recovery Gap We're Addressing

Most individuals in addiction recovery receive 1–3 hours of clinical contact per week. But addiction doesn't take days off. The space between therapy sessions—where cravings intensify, triggers emerge, and old patterns resurface—is where recovery is won or lost.

MHDF Momentum fills that gap.

What Is MHDF Momentum?

MHDF Momentum is a year-long structured accountability program that provides daily mental health exercises, physical actions, and guided reflection for individuals in active addiction recovery. Developed by Rory E. Carothers Sr., LPC, and rooted in evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Momentum delivers consistent therapeutic structure without requiring daily clinical appointments.

What This Program Is NOT:

This is not therapy. It is a clinical supplement—a structured daily practice designed to complement your ongoing treatment and give you the tools to show up for your recovery every single day.

How It Works: Three Daily Pillars

Every day for 365 days, you'll complete three core components designed to build skills, self-awareness, and sustainable habits:

🧠 Mind

10–20 minutes

Cognitive and emotional skill-building exercises that rotate through evidence-based modalities. You'll work through cognitive distortions, practice urge surfing, clarify values, examine core beliefs, and develop boundary-setting skills—all grounded in proven therapeutic frameworks.

🏃 Move

15–45 minutes

Physical actions designed as neurobiological interventions, not fitness programs. Movement regulates dopamine, reduces cortisol, improves sleep, and builds distress tolerance. You'll engage in walking progressions, breathwork, stretching routines, and goal-oriented physical challenges that directly support your neurological recovery.

📔 Journal

10–15 minutes

Structured reflection prompts that evolve with your progress. Early prompts are concrete and present-focused. Mid-program prompts explore patterns and relationships. Later prompts shift toward identity reconstruction and future planning. Every entry includes mood and craving intensity tracking.

The Four-Phase Journey

The program is organized into four developmental phases, each calibrated to meet you where you are in your recovery:

1

Phase 1: Stabilize

Days 1–90

Building foundation, establishing routine, learning basic coping skills, reducing chaos

2

Phase 2: Understand

Days 91–180

Understanding triggers, exploring patterns, examining relationships, discovering the function of addiction

3

Phase 3: Rebuild

Days 181–270

Applying skills to real life, rebuilding life domains, practicing boundaries, relapse prevention planning

4

Phase 4: Sustain

Days 271–365

Identity development, long-term planning, creating a Personal Recovery Playbook

Clinical Rationale: Why This Matters

MHDF Momentum is built on six clinical principles that directly address structural gaps in conventional recovery support:

Filling the Between-Sessions Gap

Most therapy happens once per week. Addiction operates every day. Momentum provides daily therapeutic contact without requiring daily clinical appointments.

Building Self-Efficacy Through Micro-Wins

Completing three small tasks daily accumulates behavioral evidence that you are capable of follow-through, directly counteracting learned helplessness.

Externalizing Structure

Addiction erodes routine and executive function. Momentum rebuilds structure gradually without overwhelming a nervous system already in recovery.

Integrating Body and Mind

Exercise is one of the strongest evidence-based interventions for mood regulation and craving reduction, yet it remains underutilized in most recovery programs.

Creating a Longitudinal Self-Record

A year of journal entries becomes a powerful therapeutic artifact—self-generated evidence of growth that no clinician can manufacture for you.

Reducing Clinician Burden

A therapist can refer multiple clients to Momentum knowing each one has daily structure, without creating individualized daily assignments for every client.

Who This Program Serves

For Individuals in Recovery

If you're working with a therapist but need daily structure between sessions, if you're rebuilding routines after treatment, or if you're further along in recovery but lack a sustainable daily practice, Momentum provides the accountability framework you need.

For Referring Clinicians

If you're an LPC, LCSW, psychologist, or certified addiction counselor looking for a structured tool to extend your therapeutic reach, Momentum integrates seamlessly into your existing treatment approach. You can monitor client engagement (with consent) and incorporate Momentum data into your clinical sessions.

HIPAA-Compliant & Secure

All journal entries are encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. Clinician access to client data is always consent-gated, and all data access is logged for HIPAA compliance. Your privacy and security are built into the foundation of the platform, not retrofitted after launch.

Optional Biblical Foundations Track

For clients who draw strength from faith-based practices, Momentum offers an optional fourth daily pillar integrating scripture-based reflection and recovery principles. This track complements—but never replaces—the evidence-based clinical content.

What This Program Is Not

Not therapy

It is a structured recovery support tool that complements clinical treatment.

Not a replacement for professional help

Clients in crisis should contact their clinician or emergency services (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

Not a fitness program

Movement is included as a neurobiological intervention, not for physical transformation.

Not one-size-fits-all

The framework is designed to be personalized based on your clinical needs and individual recovery journey.
